The weekend was insane and full of rain. I'm down for the occasional rain day when I have nothing else to do. It's relaxing to just lay around, but when you have to somehow run 14 miles along with attend a concert - rain is not your friend. The most I've ever run on a treadmill is 10 miles. I can only watch so much CNN. So, I woke up Saturday morning with hopes of completing my big 14 miles.
I woke up late.
Needless to say, I only had enough time to do 5. I felt that was okay since I could also squeeze in a run on Sunday and just count that as the total. Well, I woke up late on Sunday too. So, all in all, I only got in 8 miles this weekend. Next weekend is 18. That'll be quite the jump. I'm scared. At the same time, we get to meet the new team for the fall season. I'm excited. I don't think I'll be mentoring until the Winter Season.
A friend of Scott's was able to get 4 tickets to the Radiohead Concert at Nissan Pavillion for Sunday night. Naturally, after looking at Weather.com, the whole state of Virginia was under a rain cloud. A major rain cloud. Scott and I went to LLBean to prepare the day before and got nice rain pants and coats. We were ready to stand in horrible weather and try and enjoy the music.
For some reason, we followed J's directions which got us lost. We ended up turning around and tacking another 1.5 hours on the trip. It was POURING. 4 hours later, we got there. Rain, traffic and everything combined, it took 4 hours. Just miserable. Once we got there, they were turning people away. The show was still going on, but the road was "flooded". So, we couldn't go in. WTF. How in the hell does that happen?
We turned around for the fun 2 hour ride home. Too bad we were out of drinks and anything else that would make the experience fun. As we passed under the Route 175 sign on 95, we were really excited to finally be close to home. What happens next.... 95, SHUTS DOWN. I called Rob who told me there was an accident and to be prepared to sit for awhile. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
7 hours later, we made it home and I never got to use my rain pants. I decided the next time I go to Nissan is when Elvis comes to town.
