Back up and.... running....

Yesterday I was going to take a cycling class at the Columbia Gym around 9:45. I have taken it before and really enjoyed it. CA now has the online registration system which I like, because I can sign up for something the night before from home - at any time. Well, I woke up later then expected and didn't have enough time to make it to the class on time, so I thought I would try an easy run. I know what you're thinking, but however, for once, I'm being smart this time. So, I lace up, head out into the neighborhood and had a much better time then I thought I would!

I actually felt stronger, which was amazing to me. Even after taking so much time off - it was like my body still kept getting stronger while repairing and recovering. I only did an easy 2.3 and wanted to keep going. I knew to take it easy though and just build up at a slower rate. I also hope to get my shin back in place so I don't have to bear the white sleeve anymore, but heck - if that's all I need with no knee problems or anything else then I'll wear it.

This morning I woke up a lot later then expected and the temperature had gotten high really fast! It was 84 degrees around 10:15 when I was going to head out again. I decided to go to the gym instead and run on the treadmill.  I had a personal TV and watched "From G's to Gents" on MTV which was followed by Parental Control (where parents tried to find their gay son a new boyfriend). Both shows made me laugh out loud several times - but certainly made my time on the treadmill fly by. I went a little faster this time and just as far as yesterday and felt even better.

So, it is decided that I will be a TNT mentor for the Winter Season! I am already registered for Disney in January, so this is the race I'll help out with. I'm not going to fundraise for this one because I am planning to do either the Century ride or the Columbia Tri next year through TNT. I could even do both events if I went for the Tri first since it's in May, but know - I do plan on fundraising for TNT though at least once a year!

Ann Marie, you are rocking!

Read your blog front to back and that post on Alaska was great. Gave me chills to read it, especially the finish line. You've accomplished so much! I'm proud to have been one of your running partners leading up to Alaska.

That picture of you at 180 -- I would've never picked you out of a line up. Amazing!

Good for you signing up to be a mentor. Hope to get back to running soon. In the mean time, lots of biking around Western Howard. See you around the hood and keep up the great work!
