Brian gets married!

Talk about a weekend flying by! Scott and I were supposed to leave Friday morning to head down to North Carolina for Brian's wedding. Sidenote: Brian and Didi (now, his wife) met at a Toga party I threw at my house about 5 years ago. Brian was freshly single and Didi was a friend of a friend from a waitressing job I had in college.  Brian and I met about 10 years ago when he worked at the Ice Rink and I was a frequent stalker, I mean skater, during the popular Friday night public session. While Brian has left and moved on, I am working my 9th season of Friday nights at the ice rink, reliving my days as a crazy teenage girl. Anyway, back to the story!

As Friday got closer, I kinda just wanted to take the day off and chill out rather then hop in the car and hit the highway. It's been so long since we've both had a Friday night off, I thought it would be fun. So, we did just that. Canceled the hotel room for that night and decided to head down Saturday morning.

I had never driven down south before, so I was kinda excited. I enjoy road trips, so this seemed like it would be a good one. We got up early on Saturday  morning and packed the car up. The wedding was at 5, and Google Maps said the trip would take 5.5 hours. We were headed to Fuquay-Varina, NC. About 20 minutes outside of Raleigh. Let's see, the weather -  sucked. It rained for most of our drive. Traffic - sucked. Rain makes everyone panic.  People just come to a complete stop. All in all, a 5.5 hour trip took 7.

We arrived at the hotel at 4:10, checked in, changed and luckily drove 10 minutes away to Highgrove Estates where the ceremony would be taking place. The rain had stopped, the weather was in the high 60's and it was beautiful. The ceremony took place outside and lasted maybe 30 minutes. It was short, sweet and to the point. Perfect. Brian looked great and Didi looked happy. They both just looked like they couldn't wait to start their future. I only hope I look that happy on my special day!

After the ceremony, was a cocktail hour followed by the reception.  There weren't too many people from the rink down there so it was truly an honor to be part of his special day.
