We returned from Disney on Tuesday, and I have been playing catch up at work ever since then. I haven't had too much time to be able to sit down and blog. Whether it be work, or my newly mandated PT for the next month for my knee. Turns out I ran into a huge block during the marathon with my leg. The day after, I couldn't even walk. I ended up seeing a sports medicine doctor who recommended a month of PT then strength training. I guess had I been doing that all along, I never would have had a problem to begin with.
The marathon was AWESOME. There is no other way to say it. It was so much fun. This is a race I highly, HIGHLY recommend next year. Registration is already open and I have myself already signed up for Goofy's Race and a Half Marathon, 2010. There were so many people that you were never alone. I found this particularly helpful during the times I even had trouble walking during the 26.2. Unfortunatly it took me 2 hours just to complete the last 6 miles. Characters were every where, also helping to kill the pain. It was just way too cool.
So, here I am taking my break, on my way to recovery. Thank goodness one week is down and I only have 2 to go. I'm already itching to lace up my running shoes. With the temps the way they are, I don't predict I'll be on a bike any time soon, unless it's indoors. I've been reading about all sorts of strength training/stretches for my IT Band, even watching videos on YouTube. I've got a big year coming up to let this get in my way!
By the way, in May I'm running the Pittsburgh Marathon. My brother lives right on the race course, so he and my nieces get to watch me run by. Apparently, this marathon is a big deal. They haven't run it in 6 years - the last "host" dropped out and the city never had enough money to fund it. I wonder how many people will run it!?! My brother said he's never seen so many runners out since registration opened - and, it's even colder there!

Ann Marie-Sorry you had such a rough time-but glad you still enjoyed yourself.
Next year will be better than ever! So fun!!
Wow, Ann Marie, way to tough it out on the course. Glad you've found a way forward on your knee issues. Hope that does the trick for you.
You're doing the Goofy? Insane! Good for you.
