Improvement!

About 2 weeks ago, I was pissed at the world and thought - I'm going to go for a decent run, WITHOUT my shin sleeve on. In attempting this, I was going to channel my anger towards beating the shin pain that I haven't felt in a looooooong time, but that was due to wearing the compression sleeve. I am happy, better yet thrilled, to report that I have been consistently running for the last two weeks without the sleeve and am doing great! Today I hit the streets for an 8 mile run, from my house to Scott's (through Historic Ellicott City and up Oella for all you Ellicott City natives) and back.  This is the longest run I have gone on without my sleeve and nothing hurt! Not to mention, Oella is a BITCH! Hopefully that dirty thing can go up on my "Shelf of Achievements" along with my shoes and medals from each race I have run.  Rock on!

In other news - my earphones broke on today's run around mile 5, meaning I had to soldier on 3 more miles without groovy tunes.  So far, I've managed to get through races with my iPod, hopefully Disney will have the same result - or else those around me are stuck hearing me sing for motivation. Watch out!

I love the idea of you singing through your runs!

Congratulations on what seems to be a 'healing'and being able to run without your sleave

"Unprotected" runs? Be careful, you might catch something out there. What a great feeling.

I know those roads well. Know some guys that bike up Oella -- I'd love to try it, but I'm probably too much of a wimp.

Are there still TNT runs on Saturdays?

Good luck with everything. Thanks for doing TNT. You have a great and inspirational personal story.

I did the Midnight Sun Marathon in 2005, my first with TNT, and your post about it brought back some great memories - mud and blisters, among others. I could relate to your feelings on crossing the finish - an incredible feeling, of both joy and holding back some tears. Plus the idea that this event that I have trained for so hard for the past 4 months was over was a really sad feeling in many ways.

Good luck with training and fundraising, and with the upcoming race in Florida.
