I decided I was ready to introduce her to running. She is the perfect image of a dog with ADHD anyways - so why not get some exercise. This morning I ran 3.5 miles on my own, then circled back to pick her up. The first few minutes were a small struggle, but then she bounced right into routine and didn't leave my side. We ran for 1.5 miles before we arrived back at home. After I came in and took a shower, I walked downstairs and stood in the kitchen. For the first time, that I can remember, she laid on the floor next to me instead of sitting, on alert right in front of me - staring at me. I have to do this with her more! It was really successful.

new running partner?
My parent have 3 labs - Andy, who is 13. Amos, 12 and Abby, 5. Andy and Amos are both black and Abby is yellow. She is the only female dog our family has ever had. What an experience! She is full of energy, totally in charge of our house, and is my best friend. When I am home, she sits directly next to me when we eat dinner. If I'm not there, she doesn't even come into that room. She puts the boys in their place and loves attention. Until you separate her. Once she's alone, she is timid and can be the sweetest girl.

running is really good for dogs - physically and mentally. You picked a perfect running partner. I would run with Zeus (my dog) but I'm not fast enough yet to keep up with him - I have to let him off leash for him to get a real workout. (he's a Great Dane)
