Doctor on Wednesday

I've had the pain for a week now, on and off. Easy runs around the neighborhood don't seem to irritate my knee but the long run in Columbia on Saturday did. After, I popped 3 Motrin and put on a knee wrap. It felt much better after that. My sister-in-law suggested maybe my back was out of alignment and naturally, now that she's mentioned it, my back is somewhat sore.

Wednesday I will find myself at a Sports Medicine Doctor in Silver Spring. Thanks Jeff for the recommendation. Silver Spring was the quickest appointment I could get, so I figured I'd go there and always transfer out to Columbia if need be. I honestly think I will be okay to run on the 11th - but I might need a little bit of help along the way. If anything, a doctor can show me stretches that will make things feel better. I'd be okay with that!

You might want to check out a chiropractor. I have noticed some back pain lately as I try to run more. I think the pounding is hard on one's body. I know that most doctors think that chiropractors are a lot of bunk but I can tell you first hand it can be very useful. Long story short - I had horrible back pain in 2003 less than a week before I was going to hike up a mountain in Maine. I could barely walk. That was on a Monday. It took adjustments on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, but that Sunday, I hiked and scrambled up that mountain. I should blog about that! Good luck. Hang in there. Art
